We are writing to inform you of our decision to discontinue development of "notAI," the platform exclusively for non-AI illustrations that we had been working on.
This project aimed to realize a platform featuring only non-AI illustrations by adopting "timelapse videos of the creation process" as a verification method, given the increasingly blurry boundary between AI illustrations and human-created works.
However, on July 9, 2024, a research team at Stanford University announced "PaintsUndo," which made it possible to generate timelapse videos of the creation process from a completed illustration. This technological breakthrough rendered the verification method we had originally envisioned ineffective, and since the fundamental premise of the service was no longer viable, we concluded that discontinuing development was the right decision.
The rapid advancement of AI technology brings about dramatic changes in business models and values. In such an environment, the ability to foresee the future that AI will bring and respond flexibly becomes crucial. At CAEN Inc., we call this "SF Ability," which we define as follows:
"SF Ability" is the capacity to calmly assess the potential of AI technology while freely imagining the future it will bring, unbound by existing frameworks.
CAEN Inc. will continue to focus on leveraging human imagination and creativity — qualities that become even more important in the age of AI — to produce works that are crafted with soul and a genuine pursuit of humanity. We hope you will continue to look forward to our endeavors.
